Unfortunately, due to the different virtual machines that process ActionScript when dealing with AS1/2 or AS3, it’s not straightforward to communicate between content developed in the latest version of Flash/Flex and older content.
Thankfully, a few people have come to the rescue in the form of SWFBridge and ActionScriptBridge. I’m sure either is likely to come in handy.
Intend to look a lot closer at this new development from Adobe, which allows you to stick video on a webpage via a JavaScript embed specifying a few parameters. Looks very promising; works by bringing different skin swfs.
More on FAVideo can be found on gskinner’s blog. Didn’t realise Grant Skinner had been involved in the creation of this application.
Well, I relented over the past weekend and bought a new black MacBook from the Apple store. Put it through its paces at work yesterday when I had to take notes during the day; the machine lasted at least 4-5 hours taking notes and still had battery power to spare! A big departure from my experiences with my Sony Vaio.
The machine doesn’t seem to run that hot at all, although I’ve yet to properly put it through its paces. I now have to re-educate myself on the Mac scene; all the essential tips, tricks, programs, etc.
