I’m almost a week out; didn’t realise 24ways were doing their xmas thing again. Great idea and some great tips in there as always.
Good summary on Ajaxian of an article on Dr Nic’s website on the pros and cons of using WebKit within native iPhone applications.
Really interesting blog post on how the mobile version of Flickr was constructed. I haven’t had the opportunity to try the mobile version of the site out on a mobile browser aside from iPhone Safari, but it works really well on that browser. You can tell the focus on optimising everything has paid off when it comes down to user experience, and I love the visual feedback that every click provides (so the user isn’t left twiddling his/her thumbs wondering if a click has registered).
Rumor has it that Nintendo are to release an update to the Opera browser on the Wii. Haven’t read anything so far as to whether Flash will be upgraded too (it’s currently stuck on Flash 7 whereas the PS3 recently had its version of Flash updated to 9). Come on Nintendo; you know it makes sense! Pretty please?
Old post from Grant Skinner, but will probably come in handy at some point when trying to manage Flash apps that are chugging in the browser and taking up huge amounts of memory.
Stolen shamelessly from CISNKY; gonna look into this series of iPhone application development articles shortly. Looks really good.
If you’re having to test against Google Chrome (like we are), then news of Flash bug fixes come very welcome indeed. News from Webmonkey that Google have fixed some issues with Flash (crashes with video, processor demands, etc). Click here for more info…
